Doris has worked in a variety of industries on prestigious accounts including Mattel, NBC Universal, Hilton, USC, and more.
What was your first job?
When I was 10 years old, I went to work with my mom at her sewing factory one whole summer and I got to see the flip side of the fashion industry. I have fond memories of the ladies chatting away alongside the sewing machines in the background.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
The Internet. I love that I can Google a topic and get answers right away.
If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Bread (oh, the carb-y goodness).
What would you do if you weren’t doing this?
At one point in time, I thought it would be fun to be a flight attendant and get to see the world. But, my extreme motion sickness would probably be a hinderance.
Use 3 words to describe Kitchen Collaborative:
Dynamic, Inspired, Purposeful
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I like the process of seeing a project come together, from the initial concepts to the final stage.
What has been your favorite project at Kitchen Collaborative?
I currently enjoy working on the social graphics for different clients. There are some parameters and constraints, so sometimes it’s like putting a puzzle together.
What is your advice to someone just getting started in a design career?
Details matter. Be discerning. Take in and do lots of things because they all help to make one well-rounded designer.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Cook and eat. But, mostly eat!
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
I don’t have one particular spot. I love traveling and exploring (and eating) all over the place. For our 20th anniversary, my husband and I celebrated by going to 20 cities.
