Double Take! Method vs. In-Kind
Method has been known for their innovative packaging design since their inception, and many companies have created literal knock offs or inspired versions of their signature droplet soap pump design over the past decade. In this case of “inspired identity,” In-Kind (Safeway’s private label personal care line launched in 2010) seems to take the inspiration pretty directly from Method’s brand. The packaging forms mimic the curvy, smooth feeling of Method almost exactly – but with an asymmetrical theme running through the components. The logo is also a nod to Method, with a clean sans-serif wordmark and a dot element incorporated into the design.
It could be a coincidence, but it’s more likely that as a 90% natural line (Method is known for it’s emphasis on sustainability and naturals), In-Kind is inspired by more than just Method’s brand and package identity!
